Nothing is off-limits in sex therapy, and my role is to create a sensitive and supportive space where we can talk about sex in an open and honest way. At baseline, our work together is a unique opportunity to safely explore the intricacies and vulnerabilities of sexuality, and discover ways to cultivate authenticity and connection to yourself and others.
Sex therapy is not a one-size-fits-all approach, so in a collaborative effort, we set goals and create a plan to address your concerns and specific needs, using evidence-based solutions as a guide. A thorough assessment and psychoeducation are foundational to sex therapy, but sessions may look vastly different depending on the client(s), needs, and goals. It can range from discussing practical suggestions and ideas related to sex, addressing non-sexual issues that impact sex and intimacy, to more intensive psychotherapy.
In order to ensure best practice, I receive regular supervision from an AASECT Certified Sex Therapy Supervisor as I advance my sex therapy training.
Relationship and Couples Therapy
I work with all types of relationships: monogamous, non-monogamous, polyamourous, kinky or BDSM dynamics, straight, mixed orientation, queer, and beyond.
I provide general relationship therapy to people, regardless of if sex and intimacy is a concern. My role is as a neutral third party who can help improve communication, navigate conflict, and enhance connection. I help create a vulnerable and safe space where both people can be heard and validated. I listen, I understand, and I support couples foster healthier, more fulfilling connections. I blend various theories, but primarily draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy, Gottman Method, and Cognitive-Behavioural therapy.
2SLGBTQIA+ Affirming Therapy
I am a safe provider of all people within the gender and sexual minority umbrella. I have lived experience as a queer femme, and regularly work with people of all sexual and gender identities. Whether you're looking to specifically explore sexual orientation or gender identity, or just wanting a safe and compassionate provider to navigate other concerns, you can be assured that the work we do together will be respectful and informed.
No one wants to educate the person they are looking to for support, and I strive to ensure I am educated and aware about nuances and experiences of various identities, and well as the impact of current events on groups and individuals. I practice ethical curiosity, which means I do not ask specific questions about your body or private life unless there is specific benefit to you and the therapeutic process.
Individual Counselling
I offer general mental health counselling to all individuals regardless of identity and sexuality. You may wish to look at my approach to counselling to see if you think we would be a good fit. I have experience working with issues of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, family of origin, boundary setting, life transitions, navigating neurodivergence, cancer survivorship, navigating health and illness, and death, dying, grief, loss, and bereavement.
My counselling is person-centred and tailored to you as an individual. I tend to draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, polyvagal theory and somatic and mindfulness methods, and occasionally Psychodynamic Therapy and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy.
If you have questions about whether we would be a good fit, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Family Counselling
In family counselling I work with all parties towards greater understanding, communication, and connection. While families are not my primary area of focus, I occasionally work with families in various capacities, including but not limited to: navigating illness, death, transition, or sexual and gender identity.
I use various approaches to family counselling, including Systemic Family Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Family Therapy.
I only work with youth age 16+. I do not work with high conflict parental or custody disputes.
Education and Consultation
I offer education and consultation in the areas of sexuality, sexual health, and alternative lifestyles. Services can be tailored to audiences of mental health, health, or medical professionals, social service or health organizations, university students, or the general public.
Topics I provide education about include but are not limited to: sexual health, sexual orientation, gender identity, aging/older adults and sexuality, kink and BDSM, nonmonogamy/polyamory, sexual pleasure, sexual desire, arousal, and dysfunction.
At this point, I do not offer ongoing clinical supervision to individual professionals.
